About Us

Located in the historic village of Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, we provide long-term and respite care in a warm and welcoming environment for our residents.

We are proud to offer compassionate, professional residential, dementia, respite, and palliative care within a close-knit community where dignity, independence, and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. Residential Care

Personal Care (also known as Assisted Living) supports people aged 65+ who need help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, medication, meals, and mobility.

Many residents choose us for companionship and the comfort of no longer managing a home alone.

Dementia Care

Dementia care provides specialist, compassionate support for people living with memory loss, helping with daily needs such as personal care, meals, medication, and mobility in a calm, reassuring environment.

With 24/7 support from experienced staff, we offer a safe, welcoming setting where residents can feel secure, maintain independence, and enjoy meaningful moments each day.

Respite Care

Our Respite Care offers short-term stays in a safe, welcoming environment, whether for recovery, a break, or extra support.

We provide the same high standard of care, helping with daily needs while ensuring comfort and reassurance for both residents and their families.

Palliative Care

Our Palliative Care focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life, supporting residents with compassionate, person-centred care.

We understand the emotional and physical challenges at this stage, so we provide reassurance, pain management, and support for both residents and their loved ones.

The home keeps us informed of any problems with the person who is there. It is kept clean as is our relative, the food is always plentiful and adequate for her needs. Her clothes are changed daily and washed and replenished quickly. The staff are caring, responsive and cheerful and make for an extremely overall pleasant atmosphere. Her medical needs are well-catered for. A hairdresser attends as does a chiropodist to ensure she always looks her best. There are no restrictions on visits l have visited at various times during the day and have had reason whatsoever to question what is happening at the home to my relative or other persons resident there.

My father initially visited Down Hall as a respite resident, when he later became frail we had no hesitation to chose Down Hall for his permanent residence. The staff and team made this transition very easy for my father and family. The staff and management are very professional and treated my father with respect and dignity yet always maintaining a happy and friendly environment. They demonstrated kindness and understanding to both residents and their families alike, keeping lines of communication open at all times. Down Hall has a very calm environment and all residence are happy, clean, smart and well cared for.

As my mother was an occupational therapist by profession she has strong views on care homes and caring for the elderly. Having been to Down Hall when an elderly aunt was a resident, this was the only place she would consider for herself and my dad. The clean fresh air about the place, along with the friendly caring staff, make it a home from home. We have family gatherings in the function room where the children can spill out into the garden. Daily care and cleanliness are all covered in an efficient manner. I feel I am able to discuss any problems or queries I may have with the manager and her staff at any time.
